About Me

Why I Started Ask Auntie Norah

There comes a time when many of us have questions we feel too embarrassed to ask.

Questions about relationships, marriage, family, culture, emotions, or even ourselves.

For some people, there was never a trusted adult they could turn to. Others grew up in homes where certain topics simply weren’t discussed. As a result, many people enter adulthood carrying confusion, fear, or unhealthy beliefs that affect their relationships and emotional wellbeing.

That is why I created Ask Auntie Norah.

As a qualified counsellor, I have seen how powerful it is when people are given a safe, non-judgemental space to ask honest questions. Sometimes one conversation can bring clarity, hope, and the confidence to make healthier choices.

Growing up with African cultural values has also shaped my perspective. Culture teaches us many beautiful things about respect, family, community, and commitment. At the same time, I know that many young people growing up in the UK are trying to understand both their cultural heritage and the world around them. They often have questions about relationships, marriage, identity, and expectations but don’t always know where to find balanced, trustworthy guidance.

Ask Auntie Norah is my way of creating that space.

Here, we’ll talk openly and respectfully about topics such as:

* Healthy relationships
* Dating and marriage
* Communication
* Family life
* Emotional wellbeing
* Boundaries
* Cultural traditions
* Healing from difficult experiences
* Personal growth

Every question matters. There is no shame in asking for guidance, and no one should feel alone because they don’t have all the answers.

While this space is educational and cannot replace individual counselling, my goal is to provide practical information, compassionate encouragement, and evidence-informed guidance that helps you reflect and make informed decisions.

Whether you’re a teenager trying to understand relationships, a young adult preparing for marriage, a parent navigating family life, or someone healing from a difficult chapter, you are welcome here.

If you have a question you’d like me to answer, I’d love to hear from you. You can submit your question anonymously, and it may be featured in a future Ask Auntie Norah article, video, or podcast. If your situation requires personal support, you can also book a counselling session with me.

Thank you for being here and for allowing me to be part of your journey.

With kindness,

Norah Charles
